The Fish Palace

The Fish Palace was born in a backroom of a retail fish store in Killarney,  Johannesburg, by Abe and Miriam Beinart in 1990. Six months later we increased our refrigeration capacity and expanded our retail outlet into a fully-fledged wholesale operation.

Within two years the wholesale and fish distribution business had outgrown our Killarney premises and the decision was taken to move to the newly established and conveniently situated Kyalami Business Park. In November 1995, our current premises opened and The Fish Palace had found its new home.

As the operation expanded, Abe began investigating the possibility of sourcing fresh salmon directly from Scottish farms via our import division, Lindex International Foods. In 1996 our first shipment of 40 kgs of prime Scottish salmon was imported directly from our suppliers. The Fish Palace now flies in tons of fresh Scottish and Norwegian salmon on a daily basis.

The consignments are received by our loyal staff at our Production and Distribution Centre in Kyalami who expertly skin, fillet, portion and pack according to our individual customer requirements. Then, using our refrigerated fleet of vehicles, we are able to deliver to Gauteng and Kwazulu-Natal daily ensuring freshness and continuity of supply.

Apart from fresh Scottish and Norwegian salmon, we also carry a large range of fresh linefish and other frozen seafood products including prawns, calamari and smoked salmon. We are proud suppliers to all the major supermarket chains, hyper stores, sushi bars, top hotels, caterers and fine dining restaurants.

We are fully Food and Health Safety compliant and are audited regularly for compliance.

The Fish Palace is still a family owned business providing employment and opportunity to more than 30 employees who share the same passion for the business that Abe Beinart still carries with him today.
